Job description: Overview

We’re looking for a financial systems analyst to join our Finance Technology and Information team. You’ll utilize your information technology, accounting, and business expertise to support the daily operations of the Finance division’s systems.

In this role, you’ll support the financial systems business configurations, diagnose the cause of system or security issues, and develop automations, reports, and tools. You will use your accounting knowledge to bridge the gap between business user requirements and technical solutions. Ultimately, you will work with the team to provide innovative methods to deliver health care solutions to injured workers.

At this time, this is a hybrid position where you will work primarily at home and spend the occasional day on-site at our Richmond office as required.

What you’ll do

As financial systems analysts you will:

  • Respond to help calls from users, troubleshoot issues, and find solutions for business users
  • Create new processes and solutions or maintain and improve the existing systems for the Finance division
  • Develop or enhance supplementary tools for the Finance division that will automate processes or solve business user problems
  • Identify, define, and create new business reports and maintain existing reporting inventory and tools
  • Participate in team planning to identify the impact of upcoming changes on the current business software environment
  • Identify business process opportunities for clients, implement solutions, and make business and systems-based recommendations
  • Participate in business and technology projects
  • Oversee routine monthly tasks including running queries, reporting, and updating hierarchies in they system

We’re looking for people who can:

  • Understand and analyze the functions of a financial system and perform configuration and day-to-day troubleshooting of a financial system application
  • Use a variety of desktop/developer and administrative tools to solve day-to-day problems (e.g., Microsoft Power platform tools, Microsoft Office tools, MS Access, MS Excel)
  • Perform investigative and informational queries using SQL tools
  • Apply knowledge of general accounting principles and/or business processes to the areas of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, budgeting, and payroll
  • Write business or technical explanatory documentation or manuals
  • Take initiative in identifying and performing tasks
  • Approach work collaboratively, often working in small groups of 2-3 people
  • Provide individualized customer service – collecting specifics or problem details, developing and delivering individualized solutions or fixes, and checking back with clients for feedback

Your experience and educational background:

  • A degree or diploma in a related discipline such as computer systems technology, accounting, or an accounting designation
  • A minimum of three years of experience providing operational business support (e.g. maintaining the business configuration of the system, analyzing fit of the software to match business needs, diagnosing the cause of systems or security issues, and developing automations, reports, and tools) to the users of a finance-based business software system (e.g. enterprise-based financial software packages that include GL, AP, AR, Purchasing, Budgets or Payroll Accounting), including an understanding of the debits and credits behind financial transactions in software terms
